STRATA

Strata ry was founded in 1986, and its founder and chairman is artist Osmo Rauhala.

Rauhala is one of the most internationally known contemporary Finnish artists and he also farms organically on his home farm near the village of Pinsiö. In early 1975 Rauhala began the work to protect freshwater pearl mussel and brook trout, and in 1988 he was among the first to introduce organic farming that conserves water bodies. Rauhala is also a pioneer in environmental art production in Finland.

Strata ry has been operating with volunteer work on a project-specific basis in accordance with its goals and has strived to connect artists from different cultures from its the beginning.
